Cardiff Demolition Co Ltd has opted for a new Volvo EC380E rigged for secondary demolition duties for the first time.
Normally associated with alternative excavator brands, Cardiff Demolition Co Ltd has opted for a new 38 tonne Volvo EC380E for its plant fleet. The machine was chosen after several factors were considered by managing director Phil Farnham. These included a respected reputation Volvo excavators have attained in demolition applications and the fact
that the EC380E offers the latest in engine technology and fuel saving efficiencies thanks to the installation of a Tier IV final engine.
Cardiff Demolition’s new EC380E has benefitted from the addition of secondary demolition options which include SIPS (side impact protection system) rails along the machine’s superstructure; boom and bucket cylinder heavy duty protection guards; ‘boxing ring’ style hand rails and kick plates providing safe access to the engine compartment; heavy duty belly plates and an X3 proportional rotation line to operate rotating selector grabs and shears. The X1 hammer and shear circuit (which comes as standard), has been modified to operate through a proportional valve as well. All the machine’s attachments will be picked up on a Tefra hydraulic quick hitch.
